Download Transcript

In the days following the Tiananmen Square massacre, an estimated 5,000 members of Vancouve’s Chinese community marched to the Chinese Consulate on Granville Street. This and other demonstrations in response to the massacre galvanized Chinese Vancouverites, many of them recent immigrants from Hong Kong, as a political community for the first time in over a generation.
